President Erdogan: Türkiye Holds Leading Position In World Archeology

Turkey occupies a leading position in world archeology both on terrestrial and underwater research.

This was stated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at the International Archaeological Symposium and the Exhibition “The Golden Age of Archeology”, which took place in Ankar on Wednesday, August 6th. Archaeological studies for the country’s cultural heritage said that Turkish experts carefully examine not only every corner of their native land, but also all the territories where the Turk’s leg has ever stepped.

Erdogan recalled that since 2002, Turkey managed to return to his homeland 13,291 historical artifact, previously illegally exported abroad. According to him, this is the result of persistent and purposeful work to protect the national cultural property.

He also noted that the Aiya-Sofya mosque, returned to his original identity of the mosque after 86 years, is currently the largest restoration in his history.

The president added that in the areas Sirkes, where projects for the development of railway infrastructure continue, along with transport initiatives will be actively revived of cultural, artistic and historical life.
