President Ilham Aliyev met with chairman of Russian government

On March 6, a meeting was held by the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev with the chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.

The negotiations of the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Russia lasted about three hours.

The parties discussed in detail the issues of bilateral cooperation.

Aliyev noted that the tasks that were set in terms of strengthening cooperation are successfully implemented. According to him, in the trade and economic sphere, growth between countries amounted to more than 17 percent.

“We are already approaching $ 4.5 billion. But it is natural that this is not the limit. I am sure that according to the results of this year, we will see an even greater increase in mutual trade,” he said.

touching cooperation in the transport and logistics sector, the president recalled that the relevant documents have been signed. Ilham Aliyev emphasized the growth of transit and bilateral cargo transportation. The head of state identified the significance of the international transport corridor of the North-South, uniting two countries.

Mikhail Mishustin said that the freight capacities at the checkpoints have grown five times. The prime minister added that the North-South corridor has a capacity of 30 million tons.

“This is a very serious volume, and, of course, there is a lot to do so that there are no narrow places left in the areas,” added Mishustin.

The prime minister recalled that many schools with teaching in Russian are working in Azerbaijan. He also noticed that the opening center began work in Azerbaijan.

On the eve of the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation also negotiated with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov. As a result, some joint documents were signed.
