Iraqi President Abdullatif Rashid received Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his accompanying delegation in Baghdad, with whom he discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of water supply and other areas, as well as efforts to ensure regional security and stability.
The press service of the President of Iraq published a written statement following the meeting.
During the meeting, relations between the two countries, opportunities for cooperation in various fields, developments in the region, as well as efforts to strengthen regional security were discussed and stability.
Iraqi President Rashid emphasized his country’s commitment to openness and partnerships, as well as its approach to establishing good neighborly relations with the countries of the region and the world.
The President expressed the need for an equitable water policy that would guarantee Iraq its rights to water from the Tigris and Eurasian rivers, and emphasized the importance of cooperation in improving water management, reducing waste and ensuring sustainable water security.
Minister Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, in turn, emphasized Turkey’s determination to strengthen bilateral relations with Iraq and open new horizons of cooperation in various fields, noting the need to expand opportunities to support mutual interests, improve communication and coordination between the two countries.
