Russian President Vladimir Putin extended by October 1, 2025 permission for foreigners to pay for Russian gas not only through Gazprombank, but also through other banks.
This follows from the decree of the head of state.
The document is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
The decree comes into force from the day of publication.
The previous similar permit was published on March 28, 2025 and operated until July 1, 2025.
The procedure for payments for Russian gas by foreign buyers was updated against the backdrop of the introduction of US sanctions against Gazprombank. Before that, foreigners could only convert the currency in other banks of Russia, but then they still had to transfer the rubles received to the expense of the Russian gas supplier in Gazprombank.
In December 2024, foreign companies received the right to pay for the Russian Federation not directly through the expense in Gazprombank, but by crediting funds to the ruble account of the Russian supplier through third parties or converting the currency in other banks of Russia.
