President Of Tajikistan Announced Need To Strengthen Parliamentary Cooperation With Russian Federation

Tajikistan considers it necessary to strengthen parliamentary interaction with Russia, especially in the economy, energy, investment and social sphere. This was stated by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon during a meeting with the Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matvienko at the Palace of the Nation.

The text of the statement was published by the press service of the President of Tajikistan on Friday, November 14.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation within the framework of strategic partnership and allied relations, paying special attention to inter-parliamentary relations. Rahmon emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy makes an important contribution to political dialogue and the development of trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

The President noted that Dushanbe views interaction between parliaments as a key element of the entire complex of bilateral relations. He expressed his opinion on the need to intensify the work of specialized committees, primarily in the areas of economics, investment, energy, medicine and ecology.

Issues of exchanging experience in lawmaking, digitalization, business support and social policy were separately discussed. The parties also touched upon Tajikistan’s chairmanship in the CIS.

Rahmon noted with satisfaction the results of the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Tajikistan, as well as the CIS summits and the Central Asia-Russia format held in Dushanbe. The interlocutors confirmed their readiness to continue constructive interaction at regional and international platforms.
