Social protection and human development are the basis of stability and sustainable peace. This was stated by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, speaking at the UN summit on social development, which is taking place in Doha.
The text of the statement was published by the presidential press service on Tuesday, November 4.
The head of state emphasized that strengthening the social support system, developing education and healthcare remain priorities of the country’s domestic policy and an important contribution to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
According to the Tajik leader, the adopted Social Development Strategy protection of the population until 2040 reflects the country’s commitment to improving the quality of life of citizens. The President emphasized that Tajikistan is implementing eight state programs and three long-term strategies in the field of education, which is key to strengthening human capital.
Rahmon noted that the government is taking steps to improve the efficiency of the healthcare system and expand the population’s access to quality medical services.
He also said that over the past two decades, more than 4 million jobs have been created and restored in Tajikistan in various sectors of the economy. He also drew attention to the connection between social development and environmental sustainability, emphasizing that the country is consistently taking measures to counter the effects of climate change.
“It is necessary to ensure greater access to financial sources for vulnerable countries and sustainable financing, especially in the field of social services, strengthening human capital and adaptation to climate change,” said Emomali Rahmon.
The President also emphasized the importance of the transition to a green economy and the introduction of digital technologies. In this context, he recalled the UN General Assembly resolution adopted at the initiative of Tajikistan “On the role of artificial intelligence in creating new opportunities for sustainable development in Central Asia,” noting that the document can contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the region.
In conclusion, the Head of State noted the need to join forces to create fair conditions for social development for all sectors of society and peoples of the world.
