President of Ukraine signed law on legalization of medical cannabis

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed the law on the legalization of medical cannabis. This follows from the information on the website of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament).

The document comes into force on February 16.

The law will regulate the turnover of cannabis in medical, industrial, educational and scientific activities.

Illegal turnover or distribution of marijuana for recreational use will be punished in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine on drug circulation.

Only legal entities with a special license and certificate will be able to grow a medical cannabis.

The deputies of the Ukrainian parliament considered the bill on the legalization of the medical cannabis in 2021, but the vote did not take place then. The approved document entered the legislative body in June last year. He was supported by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
