The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev topical issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Azerbaijani strategic partnership relations.
According to the press service of the Uzbek leader, Mirziyoyev on November 15 held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who arrived in the country to participate in the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of the Central Asia.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ilham Aliyev thanked the leader of Uzbekistan for the invitation to take part in the Consultative Meeting.
In turn, the head of the Uzbek state cordially congratulated the president and fraternal people of Azerbaijan on the fifth anniversary of the Victory on October 8 this year.
“Current issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership and alliance in the context of the implementation of agreements reached during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Azerbaijan in July of this year, fruitful exchanges continue at all levels,” it follows from the publication.
It is noted that since the beginning of the year, trade turnover between the two countries has increased by 15 percent. Joint industrial cooperation projects in the automotive industry, energy, tourism and other industries are in an active phase.
The leaders of the two countries also reviewed the schedule of upcoming meetings and events at the highest level.

In addition, the President of Uzbekistan held a meeting with his colleague from the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, who arrived in the country to participate in the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia.
According to the message, issues of practical implementation of agreements at the highest level were considered, primarily measures to increase trade turnover, accelerate the implementation of important cooperation projects in the field of industry, transport, energy and infrastructure.
“The importance of continuing active interregional contacts and cultural and humanitarian exchange was emphasized,” follows from publications.
