as part of the program of the 17th summit of the Organization of Economic Cooperation, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, accompanied by the Azerbaijani colleague Ilham Aliyev, visited the Historical and Architectural Complex “Imaret” in the city of Agdam.
According to the press service of the Uzbek leader, the leaders got acquainted with the conditions and creative activities created in the complex.
Their attention was presented with a colorful program “Zafar” (“Victory”) with the participation of the Karabakh horses, reflecting the rich culture and traditions of the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
The heads of delegations of the countries participating in the organization of economic cooperation also arrived in the city.
The city of Agdam is located in the west of Azerbaijan in the Karabakh district. During the 44-day Patriotic War that began on September 27, 2020, the Azerbaijan army liberated 5 cities, 4 villages, 286 villages from the Armenian occupation, a large number of strategic heights in Karabakh.
Armenia, recognizing the defeat, signed an act of surrender, according to which she pledged to free the occupied territories in the Agdam, Lachinsky and Kelbadzha districts of Azerbaijan.
Since 2021, an active restoration of urban infrastructure has been conducted here: new schools, kindergartens, residential buildings, government buildings are laid.
In the complex “Imaret” is the palace and mausoleum of the founder of the Karabakh khanate Panama Alikhan. In 2024, the complex was opened after restoration work and archaeological research.
A Karabakh horses park and an interactive museum were created here.
