President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRK) Ersin Tatars said that his country would continue to build his own future: “There are two states in Cyprus.”
President TRSK Tatars organized a press conference after an expanded Cyprus meeting in 5+1 format, organized by the United Nations (UN) in New York, USA.
At a press conference held at the Turkevi Hotel in New York, the Tatars said that he took part in negotiations in the 5+1 format with a positive agenda of the day: “Progress can be achieved in the collaboration of two separate states in Cyprus, we do not avoid dialogue, we insist on the sovereign.”
Tatars noted that a meeting in 5+1 format does not mean “official negotiations” or progress in this direction. The President added that he is in New York for cooperation, and not for official negotiations.
Criticizing the appointment of a European Union (EU) of a special representative in Cyprus, President TRSK Tatars added:
“We do not recognize the appointment of this representative made by the EU without consulting with us. The EU has a biased position. Our position is clear: we can be under the roof of the EU, but only if our sovereignty is recognized … otherwise such a representation is unacceptable.”
. ”
According to him, the administration of the Greeks-Kiprots of Southern Cyprus is not interested in cooperation agreed in Geneva and New York. The agreement on the opening of new border gates between the two countries could not be reached due to the position of the administration of the Greeks-kipriota.
Having described the filing of the Greek administration against people investing in real estate in TRK, as an encroachment on international law and human law, Tatars emphasized that such a situation is incompatible with good will.
The President noted that all negotiations and processes are being held in consultation with Turkey: “There are two states in Cyprus. The existence of these two states has been going on for 62 years. This is a fact. A decision based on the sovereignty of both peoples of Cyprus is possible. The Cyprus-Turkish people will continue to build their future in their own state.”
