Presidents of Kazakhstan and Russian Federation discussed flood situation in border regions

President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokaev on Tuesday, on April 9, held a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to Akorda, the heads of the two states discussed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral multifaceted cooperation.

Leaders discussed the flood situation in the border regions and instructed the governments of the two countries to strengthen interaction in the fight against the natural element.

Interlocutors noted the traditional dynamic development of Kazakh-Russian relations in the spirit of strategic partnership.

The heads of state exchanged views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda, and also considered the schedule of the upcoming meetings.

The Kremlin’s press service said that during a telephone conversation, two leaders discussed in detail a complex flood situation in the border regions of Russia and Kazakhstan.

The tight interaction of the relevant departments and services of the two countries is noted that jointly monitor and forecast the situation, develop and implement coordinated response measures. The heads of state agreed to give instructions to activate this work.

There are also some aspects of international and regional problems, including in the context of the Russian presidency in the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Kazakhstan – in the organization of a collective security agreement.
