Presidents Of Uzbekistan And Kazakhstan Confirmed Their Commitment To Further Development Of Comprehensive Cooperation

At the Kuksaroy residence, negotiations were held between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a narrow format.

According to the report, during the negotiations, special attention was paid to expanding mutually beneficial partnerships in such key areas as energy, transport, chemical industry, agriculture and water management, environmental protection, IT and other areas.

The importance of further expanding interregional contacts was also noted. An agreement was reached to hold the first Council of Regional Heads of the two countries in Kazakhstan in 2026.

The heads of state also exchanged views on issues of the regional and international agenda.

Second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council

According to the press service of the Kazakh leader, the presidents of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan took part in the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council.

The head of the Kazakh state expressed gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his warm hospitality and emphasized that the main goal of the visit is to strengthen friendship between peoples, develop good neighborly relations and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.

“For us, Uzbekistan is fraternal, a kindred state, a good neighbor and a reliable partner. The friendship between our peoples has deep historical roots, and the spiritual values are in many ways similar. Kazakh-Uzbek cooperation is progressively developing in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance,” Tokayev noted.

The head of state noted that during negotiations with the President of Uzbekistan, further directions for deepening political and economic ties were determined.

“We have to take measures to develop bilateral trade and search for new points. growth, expansion of the range of goods, stimulation of non-resource exports. In this regard, it is important to qualitatively implement the Program for increasing mutual trade turnover (up to $10 billion by 2030, signed on March 15 of this year). We expect practical results from the work of the Council of Regional Heads being created today, as well as other bilateral mechanisms, including the Business Council and the joint trading company UzKazTrade,” he noted.
