Prime Minister Libya announced decision of Italy to remove 10-year ban on flights of Libyan aircraft

Prime Minister of the Government of the National Unity of Libya Abdulhamid Dibaib said that the Italian government decided to remove the ban on flights of Libyan aircraft in Italy over the past 10 years.

“The Italian government informed about its decision to remove the air embargo introduced against Libyan civil aviation 10 years ago,” Dibeib wrote on Twitter.

He added that “flights will resume in September this year.”

Dibeiba thanked the Prime Minister of Italy George Melony for supporting the decision and everyone who contributed to the achievement of this breakthrough.

The Italian government has not made statements on this topic.

During an official visit to Italy on June 7, Libya Prime Minister signed Meloni memorandums about mutual understanding in the areas of energy, security and infrastructure.

They also discussed the work of bilateral committees to cancel the embargo to Libyan Civil Aviation in Italy.

The European Commission in 2014 forbade aircraft of Libyan Airlines to cross the airspace of the Member countries of the European Union for reasons associated with security control.
