Kazakhstan retains commitment to obligations within the framework of the OPEC+ agreement and does not consider the possibility of leaving the alliance. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, reports Kazinform.
in the framework of OPEC+ we try to fulfill our obligations as much as possible. In this particular period, we do not always succeed, due to the introduction of the project of expansion in the Tengiz field this year. Returning to the Product Section Agreement, this is all stipulated. We always said that as soon as we complete the project, we will exceed our forecast obligations, ”said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to the Ministry of Energy, in June 2025, the volume of supplies of crude oil from Kazakhstan amounted to 1.86 million barrels per day. This is higher than the level in May (1.78 million barrels per day) and exceeds the OPEC+ quota by almost 500 thousand barrels established as part of the voluntary agreement.
The growth is associated with the technological and infrastructure features of expansion of production at the country’s largest oil field – Tengiz.
previously OPEC published a report according to which Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan will play an increasingly important role in providing Europe with oil in the long run. It also became known that OPEC+ will increase oil production in August.
Olzhas Bektenov instructed to accelerate the construction of the GPZ and complete the key oil and gas projects at the Tengiz field
“In the oil and gas sector, it is necessary to complete the full introduction of the project of future expansion and the Ustish pressure management project at the Tengiz field. I also instruct to accelerate the implementation of current projects for the construction of gas processing plants,” the head of government emphasized.
