Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan and Vice President of European Commission discussed topical issues of cooperation

Kyrgyz Prime Minister Akylbek Zhaparov met with the vice president of the European Commission Margaritis Skinas.

According to the press service of the government, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted the dynamic development of Kyrgyzstan cooperation with the European Union both at the interregional and bilateral levels in 2023. The next meeting of the leaders of the countries of Central Asia and the European Union was held, and the first official visit of the President of the European Council of Charles Michel to our country was also held.

“It is gratifying that 2024 begins with a meeting with European partners at a high level. I am sure that this is responsible for those tasks that were set by our leaders during the Central Asia summit – the European Union, held in June 2023 in the city of Cholpon- Ate, ”he said.

Zhaparov spoke about the reforms carried out in the country and noted that Kyrgyzstan is an important link between Europe and Asia. He submitted information about the country’s large infrastructure projects, for example, as the construction of the China -Kyrgyz – Uzbekistan railway.

Margaritis Skinas, in turn, noted commitment to further development and strengthening of bilateral relations in directions representing mutual interest.

During the conversation, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
