The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin said that Russia survived before the unprecedented sanctions pressure of the West. The head of the Government of the Russian Federation said this on Tuesday at the Russian-Chinese business forum in Shanghai.

“Last year, Russia was subjected to an unprecedented sanction pressure on its scale. Its goal was to break our economy, collapse national currency, provoke destructive inflation, hit the standard of living of ordinary citizens,” said Mishustin.

According to him, Russia, despite the sanctioned pressure of the West, continues the progressive development, and the extension of ties with China will benefit the economies of both countries.

“Of course, our country has yet to solve a number of important problems, including related to the construction of new logistics, ensuring financial and technological independence. And we are already conducting such work on a systemic basis. Therefore, there is no doubt – all the goals will be achieved “, – he said.

The politician said that inflation in Russia in early May slowed up to 2.3 percent per annum, which is a minimal indicator among all European countries.

According to him, the unemployment rate in Russia is on a record low and is only 3.5 percent.

The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation also said that in 2023, Russia and China intend to bring mutual turnover to $ 200 billion and expand settlements in national currencies.

He said that already according to the results of the first quarter of 2023, an increase in mutual trade “by almost a quarter – up to about 52 billion”.

According to the politician, over 10 years Beijing is the main trading partner of Moscow. “And in the first three months of this year, our positions in a similar Chinese list also changed – rose from tenth to seventh place,” the Russian prime minister emphasized.
