Prosecutor General’s Office aroused case in connection with destruction of Armenia Forests in Lachin

In the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan, a criminal case was initiated in connection with the destruction of Armenia forests in the Lachinsky district of Azerbaijan, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

According to the report, Armenian armed forces, roughly violating the main norms and principles of international law, as well as the requirements of the European Convention of the 1979 Defense of Wildlife and the Environment, in order to apply an extensive, long-term and serious damage to the Azerbaijan Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan. By deliberate destruction in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan of forests with valuable and perennial trees, which are considered the natural values ​​of our country.

The report notes that as a result of the investigation, reasonable suspicions arose that, on the instructions of the military-political leadership of Armenia, its armed forces once again demonstrated their barbarism and illegally cut down 1,818 trees of different breeds in the Lachinsky district with its unique flora and fauna. Thus, Azerbaijan has been made material damage in the amount of 1,511,330 manat.

In the General Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal case was initiated under Article 259.2.4 (illegal cutting of trees with damage in large amounts) and other articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

Preliminary investigation is entrusted to carry out the investigating department of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Investigative actions in a criminal case continue.
