Putin and Modi discussed Ukraine and interaction through SCO, BRICS and G-20

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation on Friday with India Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Kremlin press service reports.

The conversation took place on the initiative of the Indian side.

In connection with the events of June 24, Narendra Modi expressed the understanding and support of the decisive actions of the Russian leadership to protect the law and order, ensure stability and security of citizens.

When discussing topical issues of bilateral cooperation, the importance of further consistent implementation of large joint projects in various fields was noted, significant growth in trade in 2022 and according to the results of the first quarter of the current year.

Particular attention is paid to the interaction through the SCO and the “Group twenty” (G20 or “Big Twenty”), in which India currently performs chairman functions, as well as in the format of BRICS. In addition, Narendra Modi informed about his international contacts, including during a recent visit to Washington.

The situation around Ukraine is affected.

The President of Russia assessed the current state of affairs in the “Special Military Operation” zone, emphasizing the categorical refusal of Kyiv from political and dioploomatic steps to resolve the conflict.

The conversation was meaningful and constructive.

Leaders confirmed the mutual attitude to strengthening a particularly privileged strategic partnership between Russia and India and agreed on further contacts.
