Russian President Vladimir Putin met with a national security adviser, commander of the Royal Guard and representative of King Bahrain on humanitarian issues Nasser Ben Hamad Al Khalifoy. This was reported by the Kremlin press service.
Negotiations took place as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (PMEF-2025), where Bahrain acts as an honorary guest.
Putin expressed gratitude to Nasser for a visit to Russia and emphasized the significance of Russian-Bahrain relations.
The President of the Russian Federation recalled that this year the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries is celebrated, and he also recalled the warmth of negotiations with King Hamad Ben Isa Al Khalifoy in Moscow.
The parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, investment and humanitarian spheres.
According to the Russian leader, in the first quarter of 2025, the turnover between countries increased by 15 % compared to the same period of 2024.
In turn, the king’s adviser noted that Bahrain attaches great importance to strengthening cooperation with Russia.
Nasser Ben Hamad Al Chalifa thanked for the organization of the forum, emphasizing that participation in the PMEF is a confirmation of the depth and stability of bilateral relations.
Particular attention at the meeting was given the situation in the Persian Gulf region and in the Middle East. Putin expressed concern about increasing tension and confirmed the readiness of Russia to contribute to efforts to stabilize the situation.
Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in turn, noted the importance of diplomatic channels and thanked the Russian side for support.
At the end of the meeting, the adviser handed Putin a personal message from King Bahrain and expressed hope for a further deepening partnership between two countries in all key spheres.
