Egypt is one of the key partners of Russia in Africa. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with a colleague from Egypt Abdel Fattahu As-Sisi.
“Today, Russian -Egyptian relations are developing successfully. Our cooperation is multifaceted in nature, based on the provisions of the Agreement on a comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation. A regular and substantial political dialogue is supported,” Putin said.
The President of the Russian Federation recalled that the previous meeting with AS-Sisi took place in October 2024 in Kazan in the sidelines of the Brix summit, in which Egypt was first presented as a full participant in the organization.
“Egypt is one of the key partners of Russia in Africa. According to the results of last year, bilateral turnover increased by more than 30 percent, reached the record nine billion dollars, and in the first two months of this year it still increased by more than 80 percent,” he said.
According to Putin, the Russian-Egyptian interdiscipline acts, the implementation of large joint projects continues.
“We are sure that we will move on in all these areas. Our countries are coordinated on relevant international issues, including the situation in the Middle East,” he added.
In turn, the President of Egypt said that relations between Cairo and Moscow are built as part of a strategic partnership.
“And I want to say that all this is in the context of our strategic partnership. We strengthen our interaction, our political consultations. I really hope that the meeting of the intergovernmental commission between our countries will successfully be held on May 12-14 of this year,” he said.
