Putin: Relations with former republics of USSR – Priority for Russia

Relations with the former republics of the Soviet Union are one of the priorities of Russia in external affairs, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council on Tuesday, reports TASS.

“One of the most important priorities in external affairs for Russia is relations with our closest neighbors, with the republics of the former Soviet Union,” the president said, opening a meeting that was held in video conferencing. He suggested that the Meeting participants “make one of the aspects of this work.”

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, Deputy Deputy Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Head of the Presidential Administration Anton Waino, Security Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Interior Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Minister of Defense Sergey Shoigu, Director of the External Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin, Special Representative of the President on Environmental Activities, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
