Putin: Russia And Tajikistan Are Reliable Allies

Russia and Tajikistan are reliable allies, relations between the countries are consistently developing in the political, economic, defense and humanitarian spheres. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated this at negotiations with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe.

The negotiations took place as part of the state visit of the Russian leader, timed to coincide with his participation in the second Central Asia – Russia summit and a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State.

“We are reliable allies. Russia values ​​​​and, will certainly fulfill all allied obligations,” Putin emphasized. The President added that Moscow and Dushanbe are constantly working in the field of security and defense, taking into account the difficult situation in the region.

The President of the Russian Federation also noted the growth of trade and economic ties.

“Last year, our trade turnover grew by more than 7 percent, and in the first seven months of this year, it was more than 17 percent. This is good dynamics, and we certainly owe it preserve,” he emphasized. Putin added that following the visit, it is planned to sign a joint statement that will determine the parties’ further steps.

In addition, the Russian leader thanked Rahmon for his attentive attitude to the Russian language and Russian culture in Tajikistan.

“I would like to thank you for such an attentive attitude to Russian culture, to the Russian language. You and I have opened several schools, and they work for the best level. Students from Tajikistan study at universities in the Russian Federation, and branches operate here,” the president noted.

During the meeting, Emomali Rahmon emphasized that relations between Moscow and Dushanbe have a stable positive dynamic.

“We support an active political dialogue. Trade, economic and cultural and humanitarian ties, trade turnover and the implementation of humanitarian projects continue to grow. We cooperate closely in the field of security, as well as in the international arena,” said the President of Tajikistan.

The Tajik leader thanked the Russian President for the visit and noted that he intends to discuss with him a wide range of bilateral and international issues.

In Wednesday, October 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Tajikistan on an official visit to participate in the second Central Asia – Russia summit and a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State. The meeting of leaders will continue with negotiations in an expanded format.

Earlier, presidential aide Yuri Ushakov noted that at the summit the parties will discuss the international and regional agenda.
