Putin: Russian Federation counts on growth of bilateral trade with Qatar

The indicators of bilateral trade between Qatar and the Russian Federation are relatively small in absolute values, but there is a solid, not yet disclosed growth potential. We expect that the interprection committee will be engaged in the development of effective proposals for its implementation. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with the chairman of the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Katar Muhammad Ben Abdelrahman Al Tanya, the Kremlin press service reports.

The President noted that the Russian Direct Investment Fund, namely with the Qatari Investment Agency, is successfully cooperating with Qatar. “There is a good movement forward there. It is very pleasing to us,” the president said

In addition, Putin handed over the best wishes to Emir Katar Tamim Al Tanya. “I remember all our meetings with him, they always took place at a very high level, always emphasized our special relations and intentions to develop these relations in so many directions,” he said.

In turn, Muhammad Ben Abdelrachman Al Tanya said that he arrived in Moscow with a message from Sheikh Emir Katar, which concerns further steps to build up bilateral cooperation and coordination.

“Our countries connect friendly ties – long -standing friendly ties. We have common interests in a wide range of issues, especially in the field of energy, energy markets, food security, as well as our countries connect general projects in the field of economics,” he said .
