Russia has successfully tested the Poseidon underwater vehicle with a nuclear power plant. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this during a conversation with military personnel.
“Yesterday we conducted another test of another promising complex – the Poseidon underwater unmanned product. Also with a nuclear power plant. For the first time, we managed not only to launch it with a starting engine from a carrier submarine, but also to launch a nuclear power plant, on which the device spent a certain amount of time,” Putin said on Wednesday during a visit to the central Military Clinical Hospital named after P.V. Mandryk.
The head of state called the tests a huge success and noted that “Poseidon” has no analogues in the world in terms of speeds and depths of movement.
“Poseidon” significantly exceeds “Sarmat” in power. In addition, in terms of the speed and depth of movement of this unmanned vehicle, there is nothing similar in the world, and it is unlikely to appear in the near future. There are no methods of interception,” the president noted.
“This is a huge success. In addition to all the advantages that I spoke about regarding the Burevestnik, there are also minimal dimensions here. It’s a hundred times smaller than a nuclear reactor on a submarine. But the power of Poseidon significantly exceeds the power of even our most promising intercontinental-range missile, Sarmat. There is nothing like it in the world,” he emphasized.
“Sarmat” will soon be on combat duty
The strategic missile system “Sarmat” will soon appear on combat duty, President Vladimir Putin told the wounded participants in the “special operation” at the Central Military Clinical Hospital in Moscow.
“There is no such thing in the world as “Sarmat.” She’s not on duty here, but she’ll be on duty soon,” the president said.
