Qatar officially applied for the summer Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2036. This was reported by the Olympic Commission of Qatar, confirming that the appeal was sent to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
The statement emphasizes that Qatar has a modern sports infrastructure, an international level of organization and the necessary experience. The head of the Olympic Committee and the chairman of the application commission Sheikh Juan Bin Hamad Al Tanya noted that the desire to play the game reflects the national vision of sports as a platform to encourage mutual understanding and the world between the peoples.
Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Katar Muhammad Bin Abdurrahman Al Tanya emphasized that the country’s application is not just a desire to accept games, but a reflection of the “Sport in the Name of Peace” adopted in Qatar. He also pointed out the presence of a developed infrastructure supported by advanced security technologies.
It is noted that the application for the Olympiad is a logical continuation of the country’s successful experience in organizing major international competitions, in particular, the 2022 World Cup, which was highly appreciated by the level of security, comfort and organization.
In case of choice, Qatar will become the first country of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region to accept the Olympic Games.
