Rahmon: Tajikistan is interested in strengthening ties with EAEU countries

President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, in the video conferencing format took part in an expanded meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council of the EAEU as an invited head of state, the press service of the Tajik leader.

A meeting of the Council took place in the city of Moscow, chaired by the President of the Russian Federation, chairman of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council Vladimir Putin.

“States – members and observers of the Eurasian Economic Union are traditional partners of Tajikistan. We are interested in sequentially strengthen bilateral cooperation with your countries in all areas representing mutual interest, – the president said.

The total volume of trade between Tajikistan and the EAEU countries tends to steady growth. So, in 2022, the share of the countries of the Union in the foreign trade of Tajikistan amounted to more than 42 percent and they account for almost 50 percent of the export of domestic goods, the president said.

Emphasizing the interest of the Tajik side in the further development and expansion of bilateral trade and economic ties with the EAEU countries, the president pointed to various sectors of industry, the sphere of transport, agriculture and hydropower, as one of the main sources of green energy generation and the key basis development of the “green economy”, as mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.

Rakhmon noted that cooperation on the basis of common interests is the priority of the republic’s actions at the regional level and Tajikistan will adhere to it in the future.
