Railway transportation issues were discussed in Turkmenistan

In Turkmenistan, the 34th meeting of representatives of the parties to the tariffs for international railway transportation was held in Turkmenistan.

According to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, at the meeting held in the capital of Ashgabat, representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, the Czech Republic, Tajikistan and Russia, as well as the organization of railway cooperation were present. At a meeting held for the first time in Turkmenistan, the organization of railway cooperation discussed issues related to ensuring the competitiveness of transit freight transport by rail.

The meeting participants emphasized the importance of organizing a meeting in Turkmenistan, which is one of the key member states of the organization of cooperation of railways and having an important strategic situation in transportation from Europe to Asia. According to speakers, this will be facilitated by the increase and diversification of transportation volumes in transport corridors of the North-South and East-West.

In addition, the speakers noted that cooperation in such a promising field as railway transport and logistics is an integral factor in positive integration processes in the context of globalization of the world economy and sustainable development as a whole.

Turkmenistan in 1994 joined the organization of railway cooperation and in May 2022 joined the international agreement on railway transit tariffs.

The country follows a strategies based on the harmonious development of railway infrastructure at the national level and the implementation of a coordinated transport policy at the regional level.
