“Refused to surrender”: Details of death of Georgian fighters at Bakhmut

A few days ago, Ukrainian media reported the deaths of volunteers from Georgia who were surrounded by Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, where fierce battles are underway.

The founder and commander of the Georgian National Legion, Mamuka Mamulashvili, told the Ukrainian media that the dead Georgian volunteers fought as part of the Karpatsky Sich volunteer battalion.

“Georgian volunteers died … under Bakhmut. The guys were surrounded. They refused to surrender … The Russians covered them with heavy fire from artillery. During the war in Ukraine, 33 volunteers from Georgia died …”, – said Mamulashvili.

The commander of the Georgian National Legion noted that after the death of the Georgian fighters, even more volunteers from Georgia will come to fight against Russia: “Georgia is familiar with the situation that has now unfolded in Ukraine. Georgian society supports Ukraine and sympathizes with all Ukrainians.”
