Remains Of New Type Of Dinosaurs Were Found In China

Chinese researchers found that the fossil remains found in the province of Yunnan belong to the new type of dinosaur, which is included in the treasure of Sauropodomorpha – a group of herbivorous dinosaurs with a long neck.

Scientists from the Paleontology of the Paleontology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Geological Academy of the Chinese Academy The Museum of China and Yunnan University studied well -preserved fossils found in the Udun area. Among them are cranial bones, cervical and spinal vertebrae, as well as the bones of the front extremities.

according to experts, bones dates back to the Early Jurisure period and have about 200 million years. The performed phylogenetic analysis showed that the species has a number of unique features that distinguish it from other dinosaurs of that era. The new species was called Wudingloong Wui.

This representative of Sauropodomorpha is recognized as the most ancient of all discovered in East Asia. Compared to other representatives of the group, Woodingloong Wui was smaller, with a smoother dental enamel, thin blades and elongated fingers. Scientists suggest that he moved on two legs.

The results of the study are published in the journal Scientific Reports.
