Remains of victims of Stalinist repressions found in Georgia: among them there are Azerbaijani

In Georgia on the territory of the former military base in the village of Helvachauri (Adjara), the remains of 29 people were found. According to archaeologists and historians, these are people who are shot during the Stalinist repression of 1937-1938.

Georgian media reports that the main work is carried out by the Polish Institute of National Memory Institute (IPN) led by Tomash Borkovsky, who arrived at the invitation of the Batuman-Lazetskaya Diocese.

It is assumed that the dead were shot on March 15, 1938. The dead hands are tied behind the back, and in the head – a hole from the bullet.

Report writes that during the proceedings it was found that among the remains found there are the remains of Alekperov Huseyn Alekper Ogly, 1869 years of birth. According to archival documents of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Adjara, he was shot on March 11, 1938.
