Report of Ombudsman on Hate Crimes in Soil for Azerbaijanis

Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyev prepared a report on hate crimes and hostile statements against Azerbaijanis and sent it to relevant international organizations.

According to HAQQIN.AZ in the Ombudsman’s apparatus, the purpose of the report is to inform the world community about the facts of human rights violations caused by the long-standing policy of ethnic hatred from Armenia against Azerbaijanis, call on international organizations to take the necessary measures to prevent them.

In the preparation of the report, factual materials obtained by the ombudsman were used as a result of monitoring Armenian media and social networks.

The report notes that new territorial claims and the ideology of hatred, formed by the political elite of Armenia against other peoples of the region over the years, were accompanied by ethnic policies and occupation. Thus, as a result of a policy that provides for the falsification of historical facts and inciting hatred and intolerance against Azerbaijanis in Armenian society, ethnic cleansing, mass murders and genocide were committed in different periods of history. The occupation of Armenia 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands for almost 30 years and expulsion more than one million people from their home homes demonstrate that effect that has its long-standing hatred policy on ethnic soil against Azerbaijanis.

Despite the requirements of documents adopted by the UN, the Council of Europe and other relevant international organizations on the termination of the occupation, Armenia continued its policy of aggression, massively and rising human rights, not respecting the norms and principles of international law. The lack of a timely international legal assessment of war crimes and violations of human rights committed by Armenia created the conditions for continuing such cases.
