The Russian Payment System “Mir” will soon be combined with the Iranian Schetab system. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference after negotiations with the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
“Regarding the integration and mutual use of the Russian Mir system and the Iranian Schetab system, subject negotiations are underway at the level of central banks. They communicated, in my opinion, in July and agreed on a kind of roadmap, which will lead us to this result. I am sure that this will take place soon, ”he said.
Tegeran and Moscow reached an agreement on the integration of payment systems in May 2022 during the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak to the Iranian capital.
