Russia and Tajikistan will solve challenges of air defense together

Russia and Tajikistan will create a combined air defense system. The relevant government ruling signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishoustin was published on the official Internet portal of legal information, Interfax reports.

It is noted that the agreement was signed by the Ministers of Defense of Russia and Tajikistan, Sergey Shoigu and Sherali Mirzo on April 27 in Dushanbe.

According to the document, the United Regional Air Defense System of the Russian Federation and Tajikistan is an integral part of the unified system of air defense of the CIS member states and is created “in order to improve the effectiveness of solving anti-air defense problems in the region.”

The combined CIS air defense system was created on the basis of the agreement of the 10th country of the Commonwealth, signed on February 10, 1995 in Almaty. The term of the agreement is unlimited, it is open to the accession of other countries. To date, it includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
