Russia began to supply natural gas to Uzbekistan through Kazakhstan

Russian President Vladimir Putin, President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the ceremony on the beginning of the supply of Russian gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan. The launch was held in video conference format.

Speaking at the ceremony, Putin emphasized that “the implementation of this project will have an obvious return for all three states.”

According to him, Uzbekistan will receive an additional source of energy supply, which allows guaranteeing an uninterrupted supply of heat and electricity to households and socially significant objects.

In turn, President of Kazakhstan Tokayev emphasized that this historical event opens up another bright page in the annals of good neighborly relations between countries, raising strategic cooperation and interaction in the field of energy of Kazakhstan, Russia and Uzbekistan.

“The gas industry plays a large, one can say a special role in the sustainable socio -economic progress of our states. Therefore, this project meets the interests of all participants. Meanwhile, President of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev expressed a desire to expand cooperation with Russia and Kazakhstan in the oil and gas sphere.

Uzbekistan, which is one of the natural gas producers, for the first time decided to import natural gas from Russia in connection with a decrease in its production facilities.

In accordance with the agreement signed with the Russian energy company Gazprom, Uzbekistan will import 9 million cubic meters of gas from Russia per day for two years.
