Russia closes consular agency of Poland in Smolensk

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed an order to close the consular agency of Poland in Smolensk. The corresponding document is published on the official portal of legal information.

“To accept the proposal of the Russian Foreign Ministry on the closure of the consular agency of the Republic of Poland in the city of Smolensk with the consular district, including the territory of the Smolensk region,” the document says.

The decision to close the agency was made as a response measure for the unfriendly anti -Russian actions of the Polish government. In particular, we are talking about the illegal seizure of Russian diplomatic real estate in Polish territory and a significant reduction in the diplomatic presence of Russia in Poland, the Russian government explained.

“The disposal of the Government of the Russian Federation approved as a response to restore the parity of the consular institutions of Russia in Poland and Poland in Russia,” said in the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation.
