Russia Denies British Involvement In Salisbury Incident

Russia rejects the unfounded accusations from the British side about Russia’s alleged involvement in the incident in Salisbury in 2018.

This is stated in a statement from the Russian Embassy in London.

“On December 4, the final report of the public investigation into the death of British citizen Dawn Sturgess was published, which again tries to blame our country for the chemical provocation in Salisbury. Russian Ambassador Andrei Kelin visited the United States Foreign Ministry Kingdom, where he categorically rejected the baseless and senseless accusations, including those directed against the President of the Russian Federation,” the embassy said in a statement.

The Russian diplomatic mission emphasized that “there are still no intelligible answers to key questions in connection with the “Skripal case.”

One of these questions is where Sergei and Yulia Skripal themselves are, in what condition they are. We again demanded information on this matter. requested consular access to our citizens,” the document notes.

According to this information, Russia has requested from Britain information about the whereabouts and condition of the Skripals and consular access to them.

Sanctions against Russian military intelligence

Previously, the UK included in the sanctions list 11 people associated with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian General Staff (GRU), in connection with incidents of poisoning using Novichok poisoning in the cities of Salisbury and Amesbury in 2018.

The British Foreign Office, after the publication of an investigation report which found that Russian President Vladimir Putin and the GRU were involved in the death of Dawn Sturgess, poisoned in 2018 in the city of Amesbury with the chemical substance Novichok.

The statement indicates that the sanctions target a network of agents. Russia: “The UK will impose sanctions on the entire GRU. GRU agents are following Putin’s orders, trying to destabilize Ukraine, and sowing chaos and unrest throughout Europe.”

This decision was made after the publication of the Dawn Sturgess Commission of Inquiry report, which highlighted that the GRU was responsible for the Novichok attacks in the UK in 2018.
