Russia: governor arrested for bribes

Governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozers and his accomplices are detained in the case of bribery in the amount of more than 31 million rubles, the official representative of the RF SK Svetlana Petrenko told reporters, RIA Novosti reports.

“On the basis of materials of the operational-search activities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, a criminal case was initiated against the governor of the Penza region Ivan Belozershev, Boris Spiegel, who heads the group of pharmaceutical companies” Biotek “, and other persons. Depending on the role of each of everyone, they are suspected of committing crimes, provided for in Part 5 of Art. 291, Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code (cottage of bribes, receiving a bribe), “she said.

According to the investigation, from January to September 2020, Belozershtsev received from Spiegel, his spouses and director of OJSC “Pharmacy” Anton Koloskova bribes through intermediaries in the form of money and other values ​​in the amount exceeding 31 million rubles.

Bribes were transferred to the provision of competitive advantages to the Group of Companies of Biotek Competitive Advisions at the conclusion of state contracts related to the provision of acceptance services, quality control and terms of expiration, storage, holidays and delivery of drugs and medical sizes purchased by budget funds for the needs of Penza Healthcare Institutions Areas.

“In collaboration with the GEBIPK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and with the power support of the Rosgvardia divisions, including regional administration under the Penza region, Belozers, Spiegel and other suspects are detained. In their home and at workplaces, searches were searched,” Petrenko added.

She noted that in the near future the detainees will be charged, the investigation also intends to ask the court about the arrest of suspects.
