The information that the aircraft was probably Russian and is shot down by the Russian air defense system is published by both Ukrainian and Russian Telegram channels. Ukrainian air forces reported that the plane was shot down in the New Kakhovka area.
On July 17, in the Alchevsk region, the Russian fighter-bomber Su-34 crashed. Judging by the video with fragments of a crashed aircraft, this is a rare Su-34M (m means “modernized”; we are talking about a sample with an updated electronic system, high-precision weapons and a set of several suspended containers with reconnaissance equipment) with an on-board number RF-95890 from the composition 277th bomber aviation regiment of the 303rd mixed aviation division of the 11th Red Banner Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Eastern Military District. Telegram channels distributed information that the fighter was mistaken by friendly fire at the moment when the calculation of the air defense system “worked” on missiles launched by Ukrainians from American Himars. This information is partially confirmed by Ukrainian sources.
