Russia Intends To Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions By 65-67 % By 2035

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to ensure a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions by 65-67 % by 2035 compared to the 1990 level. The corresponding decree of the head of state is published in the state system of legal information.

The document orders the government to take the necessary measures within the framework of the sustainable and balanced socio-economic development of the country.

according to the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), in 2023 the concentration of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrogen oxide reached the highest levels over the past 800 years. Record emissions of greenhouse gases contribute to further heating of the planet and accelerate climatic changes.
