Russia requested military and economic assistance from China

Russian authorities asked China to provide military equipment to support the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, reported Financial Times and The New York Times, referring to unnamed sources in the US government.

According to them, Russia requests military equipment from China and other assistance from the very beginning of the war with Ukraine. Sources FT said that Russia by the middle of the third week of war ends some types of weapons.

NYT notes that, according to one of the sources in the US government, Russia also asked China on additional economic assistance to resist the consequences of economic sanctions.

White House and the Chinese Embassy in Washington have not yet commented on media messages.

Earlier it was reported that the US President’s Advisor on National Security Jake Sullivan is going on on March 14 to meet in Rome with the Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi. According to sources of FT, Sullivan intends to warn China that any attempts to help Russia in war or sanctions will have consequences.
