Russia wants to become an intermediary between Turkey and Syria

“Russia is always ready to provide a platform for meeting the heads of the Foreign Ministry of Turkey and Syria.” This was stated on Monday by the special representative of the President of Russia in the Middle East and the countries of Africa, the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Mikhail Bogdanov.

Recall that earlier Turkish media after negotiations on August 5 in Sochi, presidents of Turkey and Russia, reported that Ankara discusses the possibility of establishing direct contacts between the Turkish and Syrian leadership.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Chavushoglu also said that the negotiations of Erdogan and President of Syria Bashar al -Assad are not planned, and the contacts between Ankara and Damascus are currently maintained only through the special services.
