Russia wants to help improve quality of teaching Russian language in Azerbaijan

Russia highly appreciates the attention of Baku to the Russian language and culture. This is stated in a message widespread by the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with the working visit of Sergei Lavrov to Azerbaijan.

“The humanitarian cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan is traditionally actively developing. Russia highly appreciates the attention of Baku to the Russian language and culture. We are ready to provide the necessary assistance to our Azerbaijani friends in this work, including improving the quality of teaching the Russian language in the country, the training of teachers, an increase Quota for Azerbaijani students studying in Russian universities, ”the statement said.

It is noted that at present more than 11 thousand Azerbaijani students are studying in Russia. More than 1000 of them are trained at the expense of the federal budget.

“Thanks to the relevant legislative framework, Russian diplomas are recognized in Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijani – in Russia. There are 341 Russian -speaking schools in the country, there are Russian -speaking faculties in Azerbaijani universities,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
