Russia ceases to be a member of the Council of Europe from March 16. The decision of the Organization’s Ministeries Committee was adopted, RIA Novosti reports.
“At an extraordinary meeting this morning, the Committee of Ministers under the procedure initiated in accordance with Article 8 of the Charter of the Council of Europe decided that the Russian Federation ceases to be a member of the Council of Europe from today,” the communiqué says.
It is noted that Russia was a member of the Council of Organization for 26 years.
