In the period until 2030, Russia was going to provide Iran $ 1.5 billion for the construction and development of railways, the Russian Ministry of Transport says, Russian media write.
According to data, the money will go to the construction of a branch of 164 km long from the border city of Astara in Azerbaijan to the city of Rasht in Iran, as well as the electrification of the Garmsar-Winche-Burun line 495 km long. Both directions are part of the international transport corridor (MTK) “North – South”, created 20 years ago. The construction of the line is estimated at $ 2 billion, the first 500 million was provided by Azerbaijan.
