Russia demanded that Lithuania immediately cancel the ban on the transit of a number of goods in the Kaliningrad region.

In connection with a recent unfriendly step from the leadership of the Baltic Republic in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, a temporary attorney in Lithuania’s affairs was caused today. As informed at the Russian foreign policy, the Lithuanian diplomat was stated that if in the near future freight transit to the Kaliningrad region will not be restored in full, Russia reserves the right to protect its national interests, emphasized in the Foreign Ministry.

“We regard the provocative measures of the Lithuanian side that violate the international legal obligations Lithuania, primarily the joint statement of the Russian Federation and the European Union about the transit between the Kaliningrad region and the rest of the territory of the Russian Federation of 2002, as openly hostile,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a message from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs RF.
