Russian Foreign Ministry condemned blocking of access to Russian -speaking news portals in Moldova

Blocking access to a number of Russian -speaking news portals in Moldova has become the next manifestation of the “hostile” approach of the country. This was stated by the official representative of the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova in connection with the decision of the Moldovan authorities to block access to the 22nd Russian-speaking news portals.

“This step openly hostile to Russia has become the next manifestation of the thoughtless anti -Russian course of official Chisinau,” Zakharova said.

The Russian diplomat believes that “the medium -term goal of such a policy is to crowd out Russian -speaking content and the media from the information space of Moldova, and more ambitious is the ease of any manifestations of dissent and disagreement with the policy of the authorities”.

Zakharova claims that the decision to block the 22nd portals was made less than two weeks before the general local elections in Moldova amid the low ratings of the candidates of the current authorities.

“Mass blocking of access to the Russian -speaking news portals is a gross violation by the Moldovan by the authorities of the Freedom of Word and the rights of their own citizens to access information in Russian, which is owned by the vast majority of Moldavians. The residents of the republic have again demonstrated that the conjuncturals are in the first place for official Chisinau. Considerations and Russophobic attitudes of the Western curators, and not the interests of the Moldovan people. Without a doubt, citizens of the country will give an appropriate assessment of such priorities, ”the diplomat summed up.
