Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov did not confirm that Moscow and Washington exchanged documents in non-paper format (closed diplomatic notes) on Ukraine.
“I cannot confirm that they exchanged,” said the deputy minister, as quoted by TASS.
“In general, I would like to note that the abundance of various kinds of rumors, stuffing, some kind of messages, mostly citing anonymous sources, mostly appearing in an information space controlled by Western media, doesn’t help matters. Because people can no longer understand where the truth is and where the fiction is. “I don’t want to act as a person who adds “fire” here,” he noted.
At the same time, the diplomat indicated that there were “significant obstacles” to holding a meeting between the Presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States Vladimir Putin and there is no Donald Trump.
“The question is that the parameters defined by the presidents in Anchorage, these frameworks are filled with specifics, and this is a difficult process, we must admit. But that’s why diplomats exist, to do this,” said Ryabkov. “We say that preparations for the summit continue,” he added.
The diplomat also noted that opponents of the agreements between the Russian Federation and the United States and the meeting of leaders are trying to imagine that the situation has changed recently.
“Of course, there are attempts to present the situation as having changed compared to some period – a week, two, three ago. I attribute this to the deliberate desire of opponents of reaching agreements to reduce the chances of achieving them,” the diplomat said, answering a question about the latest reports regarding the possibility of a meeting between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States.
At the same time, he indicated that there are no agreements on a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Budapest.
“Therefore, there are no agreements yet for a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. I warn in advance those who again start writing about canceling something so that they do not do this,” he added.
