The appointment of Mordvichev was reported in mid -January by State Duma deputy Dmitry Sablin.
“I congratulate Andrei Mordvichev on the appointment of a central military district to the post of commander. A war general, a brave man. Wounded during the liberation of Mariupol, returned to operation today at the front line with his fighters,” Sablin wrote on his website on January 15th.
Mordvichev previously commanded the 8th Army, led the army units in battles in Mariupol.
