In addition, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 59 drones were destroyed over the Black Sea and in the sky over the annexed Crimea.
As a result of a drone attack on Novorossiysk, a man was injured, he said Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Veniamin Kondratyev. “All night in the Krasnodar region they repelled drone attacks. Novorossiysk suffered the most. At night, more than 170 people and 50 pieces of equipment eliminated the consequences of the attack, quickly extinguished fires and helped residents,” he said.
According to the head of the region, UAV debris damaged at least four apartment buildings and two private ones. “One man was injured and was hospitalized. The surrounding areas at several addresses were also damaged. Fragments of drones affected the oil depot of the Sheskharis complex, a container terminal, coastal facilities and one civilian ship in the port, where three crew members were injured,” he added.
Governor of the Saratov region Roman Busargin reported damage to civilian infrastructure in Saratov due to a drone attack. “As a result of the UAV attack, there is damage to civil infrastructure facilities in Saratov,” the head of the region wrote in his Telegram channel.
Governor of the Volgograd Region Andrei Bocharov also announced that a UAV attack on the region’s energy infrastructure facilities had been repelled. Due to the drone attack at four airports in the country, restrictions were introduced on the arrival and release of aircraft.
Drone attacks on Russian regions began in 2022 against the backdrop of a “special military operation” in Ukraine.
Kyiv has not officially confirmed its involvement, but in August 2023, the adviser to the head of the office of the Ukrainian president, Mikhail Podolyak, said that the number of UAV strikes in Russia “will be increase.”
At the beginning of March 2023, President Vladimir Zelensky said that the whole world sees the results of Ukraine’s use of drones of its own production at strategic sites in Russia. “I think everyone sees that our drones work. And they work long-range. Our long-range is a real approach to security for everyone,” the head of the Ukrainian state said in a video message after a massive drone attack on the regions of the Russian Federation, including the Moscow region.
Zelensky emphasized that “Ukraine will inflict retaliatory losses on the Russian state – quite rightly.”
