Sahib Gafarov reminded Europe about Azerbaijanis – refugees

The Chairman of the Milli Majlis Azerbaijan Sahib Gafarov spoke at the 13th summit of women chairmen of parliaments organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Vienna.

As reported by HaqQin.az in the Public Relations Department and Press Mirazlis, in his speech, Sahib Gafarov noted that women today play an important role in the global fight against the pandemic.

The Chairman of the Milli Majlis told about the successes achieved in Azerbaijan in the implementation of state policies against women who play a significant role in Azerbaijani society. Sakhiba Gafarov emphasized on the fact that Azerbaijan became the first state in the Islamic world that granted women the right to elect and beat – it was in 1918, earlier than in many European countries.

After the restoration of state independence by Azerbaijan, in 1991, Baku took a number of significant steps to protect the rights of women and creating wide opportunities for them. Among them, Sahib Gafarov, the creation of the State Committee on Family, Women and Children, the adoption of important decisions and laws in order to increase the importance of the role of women in the country, solving other issues, as well as preventing gender inequality and violence against women. All this, according to the speaker, was of great importance for the successful implementation of state policy regarding women.

then Sahib Gafarova told about the measures implemented to increase the activity of women, about local and international projects in these areas.

In his speech, Sahib Gafarov touched upon the problems faced by refugee women and forced migrants. During the Pandemic period, care for women who became refugees and forced migrants in different parts of the globe should be treated with attention to their needs. Unfortunately, these vulnerable groups are in many countries of the world, and Azerbaijan is one of them. In Azerbaijan, more than a million refugees and forced displaced persons who had to leave their native land as a result of the occupation policy of Armenia, a significant part of them – women.

The Chairman of Milli Majlis reminded listeners that in the 44-day Patriotic War of Azerbaijan, thanks to its capabilities and strength, put an end to the almost thirty-year occupation of 20 percent of his land Armenia, freed his land – Karabakh and restored territorial integrity. On November 10, 2020, for the purpose of providing in the region of a sustainable world, a three-sided statement was signed. But the fact that Armenia has minted these lands, as well as its ongoing provocations on the border impede the peace process.
